Gravity and Grace: Monumental Works by El Anatsui

We recently saw these amazing works by African sculptor, El Anatsui, at an exhibition. Anatsui converts found materials into a new type of media that lies between sculpture and painting, combining aesthetic traditions from his birth country, Ghana; his home in Nsukka, Nigeria; and the global history of abstraction.

What we love about the pieces is the way the metal takes on an almost textile appearance. They shimmer like gold and look like hand knotted high end rugs. So creatively inspiring!
