The Future of Shibori

Shibori is a Japanese term for several methods of dyeing cloth with a pattern by binding, stitching, folding, twisting, compressing it, or capping. Some of these methods are known in the west as tie dye. Modern day artists are taking this traditional hand method to the 21st century to the digital world. With the use of computer software, artists are making their own versions to interpret the traditional folding and twisting with the use of light and pattern in their design.  Both methods are beautiful, the first two images are traditional methods by hands and the rest of the images are the modern interpretation in digital prints.
