Sheila Hicks is an American textile artist that has focused on textile as sculpture and performance art. She studied at Yale and was granted the opportunity to study painting in Chile. While in South America, she became inspired by Peruvian textiles and Mexican hand weaving. She started to explore fibers in South America, She has been very experimental with colors, fabrics and weaves over the years. She has focused on pieces in all scales from very small to extremely large. Her work has been shown in collections all over the world.
