Ombre

Ombre is a French word that means gradation. It's been a popular trend in fashion and home décor. A term used to describe fabrics with a dyed, printed or woven design in which the color is graduated from light to dark and often into stripes of varying shades. It refers to a gradual change in shade from light to dark or from one color to another. May be done as a yarn dye or in printing.

Cross Stitch

Charlotte Lancelot is a designer who devises creative and playful concepts around the theme of durable development. In this particular concept she partnered with Gandia's Blascos Gan division to develop a line that resembles an oversized cross stitch.  Her rugs are an oversized hand-made embroidery made of felt. The closer you stand, the more the pixel pattern disappears, highlighting the cross-stitch ancestral technique and the natural material.

Painting on a cross stitch to give it the appearance of a unique hand made look is also showing up in interiors. Here are a few ideas

Hitchin' a Ride

Just the other day while we were walking around the factory and rummaging through our thoughts, we picked up some fabulous visuals we just had to share.

So that's how the carpets move around our factory area from one unit to another, ready to be made, cleaned, dyed, packed and on.

The pushbike song

Motorcycle emptiness

Blame it on the pony express

Walking back to happiness
Yes these are all song titles and we cudn't resist!

Screen Printing

Screen printing is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. A roller or squeegee is moved across the screen stencil, forcing or pumping ink past the threads of the woven mesh in the open areas. Screen printing is also a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. It is also known as silkscreen, serigraphy, and serigraph printing.

So this spring, while we were busy as bees trying to figure out our next creative move, we decided to incorporate a bit of screen printing into our agenda. Here's a glimpse of some of it being done at the factory.

Its spring and the floral motif is taking us full on, so we're doing it all through screen printing.

The first step is design development

Then the design goes onto the tracing table

Tracing the designs using chalk powder

Preparing the colour pool

Application of colour on the screens

And the magic unfolds

Drying out the carpets

A bit of oriental magic as the trends spell this year and of course the floral essence of spring, they look quite like an installation as they dry out.
